Digital infrastructure provider GlobalConnect continues its strong business momentum by growing its FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) customer base with 5,8% in the first quarter of 2023. The total number of customers connected now amounts to 766 000. In addition, the company signed several new key deals and acquisitions in Q1, cementing its position as one of Europe’s leading and fastest growing digital infrastructure providers.

GlobalConnect connected close to 50% of the total numbers of new households during the quarter in Sweden. However, the largest customer base leap took place in Denmark, which saw an increase of its FTTH customer base by 13,6%. In addition, GlobalConnect connected its first customers in the newly entered Finnish market.

“We were able to grow our FTTH customer base with close to 6% in Q1 despite winter conditions limiting our ability to dig and deploy fiber in many areas. With spring arriving, we will be able to accelerate our roll out machine across all markets and continue our important mission – empowering society with connectivity”, says Martin Lippert, Group CEO GlobalConnect.

New key deals and acquisitions in all markets In March, GlobalConnect signed an agreement with Senja municipality in northern Norway, acquiring its local fiber network, adding all FTTH and B2B customers to GlobalConnect’s customer base. In addition, GlobalConnect also signed an agreement with Norsk Medisenaldepot (NMD), operating more than 300 pharmacies all over Norway.

In Denmark, GlobalConnect delivered a tailored state-of-the-art network to Denmark’s national arena, Parken in Copenhagen during Q1. The solution now delivers the fastest and strongest stadium network in Europe. The deal has triggered interest from arenas from other countries, who are visiting Parken for inspiration on how to build arena specific networks. The Parken network enables an optimal digital experience to the full capacity, 38,000 visitors, while catering to new commercial opportunities in the digital customer journey.

In Sweden, GlobalConnect signed an agreement with Östhammar’s municipality to acquire its city network and assets, including approx. 1,200 connected households and 100 municipal businesses, being added to the growing list of customers.
